Life as training- La vida como aprendizaje.

After a long time without posting, here I come with a little filosofic post. I want to thank Rocío for her comments; if she weren't there maybe I would have abandoned this blog for once and all.

Hibisco naranja lluvia

On March, after the rain, Spring began to bloom. Don't think that I forgot about the blog: I was wandering here and there taking photographs of flowers to show them to you in this blog (I have a lot. I'd like to talk about the flower which grow in Malaga gardens). Mi situation wasn't the best, but the expectations on the Spring gave me hopes somehow. I said to myself: "everything is going to change", "now is the moment for you to prove your strength"...

Whenever you are worried, if you go out and you see the blue sky, as the warm season is coming, you'll feel that it's easier to breathe. That's what happened to me. I tried to stay positive. On April, the rain came back. Every time  the Spring showed up, the rain came back. And it was the same with my little projects. I was thinking that I could do it... and then something put me down. It's not easy.

Cielo azul

Besides the professional problems, I was feeling lonely. I missed having someone who could just understand me, and I wondered if some of my friends had ever done it. Funny, because they always called me and helped me, but I continued being sad. I didn't want to bother them with my problems either.

Lolita manga
On May, I didn't let myself give up. After all, I have a "new world". You may not believe me, but I've been thinking about NeWorld all the time. I even drew Lili, thought of changing the name into NextWorld, and I've been writing all these months. It's just that there is always someone much better than you. You know: that feeling of "no matter what you do, you can't do things as well as you'd like". I don't feel able to draw a whole manga, so I began to write, simply. And now I wonder if what I've written is good enough to publish... That's the way I am. I only have a positive thing: it may takes me years, but I don't forget my projects.

Rosa blanca
Todas las rosas habían florecido. Todas menos yo.

Even the last rose bloomed, and June came in. June is the sixth month of the year, the half of the year. I realized that, thanks to my efforts, I had achieved some goals- very little ones. On one hand, I was happy, but on the other hand, I was sad. I realized that my dreams wouldn't turn into reality that easy, and that my life until now had been really comfortable. I realized how much I owed to the people around me, and how less I had given to them in exchange. I think I'm a spoilt cry-baby.

Lagarillo Blanco paisaje

Now is July, and I'm in the middle of my 2013 summer, thinking that I haven't gone to the beach a single day, knowing that I've had less laughter than ever and that I have to do something. I mean, something else.

Traditions and religion: Easter- Semana Santa

If I really want to write a blog about Spain and Japan, and explain why I said there are some simmilarities, I have to write about Easter. You know, I've watched hundreds of animes, and sometimes, I saw images which reminded me of my culture. Right now you must be thinking "Spain and Japan, simmilar? Please, let me explain. I'm not an expert, oh no. I only talk about impressions. While watching animes and documentaries I've been able to see images like this: Por favor, dejad que lo explique antes de que me colguéis por loca. Sólo hablo de mis impresiones. Viendo animes y documentales, pude ver algunas imágenes como éstas:
And now please compare those photos to these ones: Y ahora por favor, comparad con éstas:
This is Easter at Málaga, in South of Spain. My first thought was: "Wow, maybe a Japanese girl is feeling something simmilar to this at the traditional festival in her town"... The crowds of people, the golden thrones illuminated on the night, the strenght of men who carry on their shoulders the sculptures... We are the opposite, but in the bottom of heart, maybe we share something... Isn't that magical? ¿No parece mágico?
Well, the reality is that I don't know ANYTHING about traditional festivals or religion in Japan, so I'm going to tell you what I know, which is my culture.
As the majority of otakus, I'm not a traditional person, nor a very religious person. As I told you, otakus and geeks of Japan tend to separate from every Spanish form. But, well, I'm so strange and eclectic. I find there is much plastic and visual beauty in Easter.
Many of you know that the most part of population in Spain is Catholic. That means that they believe in Christ as the Son of God -and the materialization of God on Earth - and that he was born of the Virgin Maria, who got pregnant whithout relations with a man, by the Holy Spirit. The "legal" father of Jesus was Saint Josef. So, we are Christians, but Catholics believe in Jesus asGod and Son of God, and they believe also in Santa María, as well as many other Saints, canonized by the Vaticano.
Ok xD This is much extended text, sorry. Easter is a week, which takes place at the first full moon of Spring. It is supposed that in this week, the "procesiones" and thrones for the streets which are normally in the temples, are to remember how Jesus, the Son of God, lived as a human and died crucifixed, to wash away all our sins and give us the opportunity to follow his teachings and go to eternal life and resurrection. This is the theory. Now I'm going to describe you the "procesiones".
This "festival" has many centuries of history. In Medium Age they started, I think. And in the XVII century they got their maximum. Churchs paid to great artists to make very realistic sculptures of the image of Christ on the Cross, bleeding and suffering. This was made to make people commiserate of the pain of Jesus, who loved us to that point, and think in Heaven, although this life was painful. On the other hand, we had the image of Maria, a sweet virginal and loving Mother, sometimes as a Queen of Heavens, sometimes as a crying mother, suffering for the death of her Son. Santa Maria was the most beautiful image to the peoples, so she got "popular", and many people prayed to Maria better than to God himself, as she was a loving mother...
Nowadays, tourists feel afraid or strange when they see the sculptures of a crucifixed man, almost naked, bleeding, tortured.... on the middle of the streets and Spanish people don't realize it, because we have this tradition or history. But really, I understand them, ha ha...
I told you the theory, but reality is that many people have their "favourite" image or Christ or María, and they pray to them and try to go with the throne in the "procesion". It's as they were many Christs or Marías, many "gods".
I keep to myself my believings, but I find Easter is beautiful in some aspects: it's difficult to say. People stand many hours on the streets, from afternoon to night, waiting for the "procesiones". Childs play around, get little toy trompets, eat sweets near her parents. Teenagers go here and there, well dressed, with last Spring trends, and maybe, flirt.... Spring is in the air. "Golondrinas" (sorry, I don't know the English word), a bird who comes with Spring, fly and sing in the skies...
Endless lines of "nazarenos", who light their candles in the evening, pass away... When I was a child, I was afraid of them, because I thought they were'nt persons, and that the shape of their heads was natural... "Nazarenos" have their history too, but sorry, it's too late, and I don't know that much.
Now, please, let me know of your festivals, and if you like something about them.

Primavera en Andalucía- Spring in Andalusia

I told you there were things that I wanted you to know about my birth place. Usually, Spanish otakus dislike the place where they were born. I think they don't like the most typical aspects of Spanish culture, and that's the reason why they look for far-away cultures( Japanese). This is what I think.

In fact, you Japanese have things we don't have here. The most difficult thing is that we don't have concept of "kawaii", because the more simmilar word is "mono" o "mona", "bonito", and this word can be used for children or animals, mainly. Here, a really beautiful woman must be sexy, pretty and with strong personality, totally adult. Of course, teenagers or little girls can be "monas", but they aren't considered "real" women...

What I mean is that for Spanish otakus, who are in love with your "kawaii" concept, Spain is completely boring... Everyday I think to myself how can a whole culture exist without the prettiest things in life... The only accesories shop that we could give the name of "kawaii" arrived to my city two years ago. We'll go mad if this continues this way.

Sorry, I'm talking too much. I wanted to show you things of Spain that don't exist in Japan, probably. Just because I'm not blind, and I can appreciate beauty, Japanese, Spanish or not... And something I love is Spring.

I've seen so many times sakura flowers in anime and doramas. It must be magical. But here in Spain there is something pretty, too. And it is the blooming of azahar.

Here in Andalusia we have many orange trees. When Spring arrives, they shows full of oranges, which gives a lot of colour to gardens and places. And the best thing is that they have a little white flowers called "azahar flowers", which gives a delicious scent. It's a sweet, non-heavy scent. The only word I can use to describe it is "love" or "Spring". When I pass a typical Andalusian garden and I smell this parfum, it doesn't matter if I'm sad, I feel alive and I remember good emotions.

I'll be updating with drawings, which I've named "Microsueños". In these drawings I'll make true my wishes of joining Spain &Japan best things.

Fairy-kei & azahar:
